Policy & Research

The staff of the Fair Housing Council of South Texas supports and advocates for policy initiatives that advance our goal of eliminating housing discrimination in the areas of rental housing, real estate sales, mortgage lending, credit, design and construction of multi-family housing, single-family home construction, home appraisals, homeowners’ insurance, zoning, land use, etc.

In addition, our staff supports and advocates for policy initiatives that promote and expand equal access to homeownership opportunities for all persons regardless of their race, color, national origin, ancestry, birthplace, language, accent, religion, sex, familial status, and/or disability.

Furthermore, our staff conducts research to identify patterns of discriminatory practices in the housing market, patterns of racial and ethnic segregation in neighborhoods, barriers that prevent dwelling units from being designed and/or modified to meet the needs of persons with disabilities, etc.
