The Fair Housing Council of South Texas conducts preliminary investigations of housing discrimination complaints in the areas of rental housing, real estate sales, mortgage lending, homeowner’s insurance, home appraisals, zoning, land use, etc.
This preliminary investigation may consist of Fair Housing Council staff conducting research regarding the subject housing provider, identifying witnesses, and/or collecting relevant notices, lease violations, emails, text messages, photos, or other documents or materials which can substantiate the discriminatory statements or actions by the housing provider.
In addition, if appropriate, the Fair Housing Council staff may coordinate an investigatory test at the subject housing site to identify discriminatory housing practices based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, or disability.
Furthermore, if appropriate, the Fair Housing Council staff will attempt to conciliate the matter between the parties involved during the course of this preliminary investigation.
