Although the majority of the Fair Housing Council of South Texas’ work is focused on fair housing investigation and enforcement, the Fair Housing Council also provides presentations on fair housing issues to housing consumers, housing providers, community groups, tenants’ associations, advocacy groups, social service agencies, government officials, and the general public.
In addition, the Fair Housing Council of South Texas participates in community fairs, tenant association meetings, housing task force meetings, etc. because it is committed to working collaboratively to:
- educate the public about how to recognize and report housing discrimination,
- increase compliance with fair housing laws,
- promote homeownership opportunities,
- advise consumers about how to locate affordable and/or accessible housing options,
- increase affordable and accessible housing options,
- advocate for open, accessible, and inclusive communities,
- identify and address barriers to fair housing in the community,
- and much more!
Furthermore, the Fair Housing Council of South Texas aims to prevent harmful and unlawful discrimination by educating housing providers as to the nature and meaning of the fair housing laws.
